God as the Architect of Your Life

Author: admin / Category: Architects

There is spirituality information that says God is separate from you and there is spirituality information that says God is one with you. For your spiritual growth let us pretend that you are building a house (the structure of your life) and the architect you are using is the God who is one with you.

In this little exercise we will observe what the process of building your life upon a foundation of oneness is like. This structure, this life, is going to be built on the foundation of oneness. We are going to use a belief system that says we are all one, we are one with everything that exists and we are one with God.

So, what are the characteristics of this foundation? What are the characteristics of this belief system? What makes this belief system different than a foundation built on separateness?

The core concept and foundational tool is that you, the builder, are in a partnership with your architect, God. You are not only in a partnership with the architect but you are also in a direct partnership with all of the suppliers of everything that is necessary to build the structure, the life, of your intentions and desires.

By working in such a close relationship with your architect and having all the tools and supplies that are necessary to build the structure of your life, you understand that there is no limit to how you can design and construct your life. The architect has given you free reign to design and construct the life that fits your intentions and desires. Your architect has told you to use our imagination and design a structure, a life, which will allow you to live in a manner that reflects who you choose to be.

This architect is flexible too, so if you want to change or remodel the structure of your life a little later down the road you have the ability to do that because, when you build on a foundation of oneness, you possess the tools to remodel your life at all times. You never lose any tools or abilities to change because you have access to the architect at any time. The architect is available 24/7. You call, she’s there.

So the first basic difference we observe between the architects of these foundations is that the foundation, the belief, of separateness is a limited belief system. By building (living) within this belief system, you are limited by the idea that there are certain things you need, that you must have, in order to build the structure of your life to fulfill your desires. Because you are separate from the things you need, you can fail to get them and therefore cannot use them in the construction process.

The person building their structure using the foundation, the belief, that they are one with their architect, their source, sees that everything that is needed to build their structure, their life, is supplied by, and part of, the architects’ warehouse of supplies and construction resources. This architect, this source, has everything that you will ever need to build the structure of your life right now, in the present moment, as well as down the road, when you want to remodel or upgrade your life.

It is a never-ending warehouse of materials, concepts and ideas specifically designed to fit whatever it is that you desire. And it is available to you 24/7, no matter where or who you are at any given moment.

This allows you, the builder, to pick out and choose the structure, the life, which fits your particular desires and intentions. You don’t have to fit your life into any particular mold that was dreamed up by somebody else. There are no limits as to what you may desire the structure of your life to look like or what functions it must fulfill. Whatever it is that you desire, this architect can work with you to help you build it to your exact specifications. It’s like she can read your mind. That’s how close this relationship is between you, the builder, and your architect, the source of all you build.

You are not limited in any way as to what you want to build or how it functions because every need that is called for by your plans is available to you through your partnership with your architect, your source.

Can you see how this concept of being one with the source of your existence is serving you? Your source is available at all times to guide you and supply you with whatever it is that you desire to be, do or have. Connect with your source and use this guidance to create the structure of your life.

Interviewing A Prospective Architect For Your Project

Author: admin / Category: Architects

You’ve decided to build something and now it is time to hire an architect. You know you should interview a number of prospects, but what do you ask them?

You should remember that an architect is a highly skilled professional. The architect is not only highly educated and not only is required to pass stiff examinations to be licensed, but also must have artistic and creative skills that can only be honed, but not taught. You can be fairly certain that his or her services are not going to come with a cost that is not a substantial part of the overall building budget. As with any professional, unless price is truly of no concern to you at all, asking about the price of his or her services is going to be a necessary question.

However, price is not, or at least should not be, the place to start. The questions about price and experience are selection questions. They are asked before the architect is “your” architect. The architect selection process is similar to the selection of other types of professionals, but is more akin to the selection of an artistic type professional rather than the selection of a more practical type. In other words, you would select an architect more like you would an interior designer or photographer and not quite the same as you might select a lawyer or financial manager. This means the portfolio is the primary indicator of talent and experience. If you are selecting an architect to design your new church, it is helpful to view the kinds of churches he has built in the past and maybe even his artistic visions of how a church could look.

It is always important to understand this simple rule of the professional. You are going to get what you pay for. If you base your selection process on finding the least expensive architect, you might do well to be prepared to be a little less than satisfied with the results. Obviously, the most experienced and most talented architects will not only have the thicker portfolios but will command the higher price. Your goal should be centered on finding the best that you can afford.

Once you have selected your architect, the questions you will need to ask should begin with ones that establish that he has a complete understanding of your needs and desires. No matter how imaginative a design and regardless of how appealing to the eye it might be, if it does not meet your needs, it is of no value to you at all. This is the major mistake of clients with architects. The finished design must be a meeting of minds. It is a merger of the architect’s knowledge and creativity and your own practical needs and desires. It is not the place to be overly trusting or to make assumptions. You need to ask questions that satisfy you that the architect is on the same page that you are on when it comes to the desired end result.

Remember that, like many professionals, the architect’s time is a valuable commodity and one that might end up costing you. This is why your questions should be detailed and probing. This can not be overstressed. Trusting too much is always a mistake when dealing with a professional while at the same time a great deal of rapport is what you are seeking. Like the doctor is entrusted with your body and the lawyer might be entrusted with your very freedom, the architect is entrusted with your vision and dream. If your questions establish that your architect understands your vision and even understands the scope of your dream, you can afford then to have some faith and trust.

How to Consult Your Residential Architect

Author: admin / Category: Architects

First of all, be really sure about your choice of architect as you will have a lengthy relationship with this particular individual involving substantial sums of money. Be sure you can trust him or her and that they are willing to listen with great care to all your ideas and requirements.

Ideally, formulate your design brief before meeting with your architect and be realistic about your budget or other constraints that might exist. This will enable the architect to assess your project realistically and put forward appropriate design proposals, which will help you make suitable choices.

Your initial brief need not be very extensive but at least contain information regarding broad principles such as the overall size and theme of the structure; define features you want to achieve and key functional or special inter-relationships. If you already own a stand point out specific views or areas of the site that you would like to utilize.

Be realistic and honest about your budget from the start. The relationship between you and your architect should be one of mutual trust and by being dishonest about your budget might only lengthen the design process thus in the end costing you more in architects’ fees to get to a viable solution or you might end up with a house design that is beyond your budget limits and you would not be able to complete the project.

Try not to impress a specific style or theme or personalize the design to much to your own individualistic needs. These themes are often short lived trends in property markets and certainly put a date stamp on a property and you might have difficulty or not get the best resale value when it comes to the selling of the house. A good style is one that is unique but has longevity and remains contemporary.

The design of the house does not only have to do with the aesthetics and physical proportions of the building but also, and perhaps even more so, how it flows or functions. Your home must work visually and physically. It is imperative to consider aspects that cannot be seen on the plan, such as the various uses for the different living spaces, the movement through the areas without bumping into furniture or doors that might open onto unsightly areas of the home, the provision of light and ventilation for the various rooms and security of the building.

When consulting your architect for the first time, remember to try and keep and open mind, the first session with this professional will largely consist of discussion and questions about your requirements and ideas of you house and site and which take priority. During the session the architect might present you with suggestions, ideas or solutions that might sound pleasing to you at first, but might make sense later on in the planning stage.

When negotiating fees with your architect, you might have a choice to use only a part of his or her service or a ‘full service’. If your budget does not allow the service of the architect, he or she might be willing to provide you with advice and ideas on a hourly basis. The services of an architect is not rigid and most will be willing to taper services to suit you needs or budget.
A full architectural service includes: consultation, design and sketch plans, working drawings for local council approval, construction drawings, obtaining approval from the council, sourcing and appointing contractors and site management.

Architect – Do You Want To Become One?

Author: admin / Category: Architects

Architecture became an organized profession by mid-nineteenth century. In the year 1837, The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) was established. This was formed in order to improve the art and science of architecture in Britain. Furthermore, it was established in order to highlight the effects of architecture in the towns and cities. Twenty years after, The American Institute of Architects was also founded following the examples of the British. The Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris was the main influence in both the American and European architectural education. Established during the 17th century, this French academy preferred the study of ancient Greek and Roman Architecture. Students from this academy were encouraged to create building projects in sophisticated two-dimensional watercolor renderings. All of which were in symmetrical designs. The Americans in many of their architectural schools adopted the same method. This style led to the Beaux-Arts Classicism. This architectural style was widely applied in all of America including such buildings as the New York Public Library and Grand Central Terminal.

The turn-of-the-last-century architects were mostly showmen, much like today’s pop stars. They made it a point to pay careful attention to the designs and location of their offices. Additionally, they dressed according to styles of their creation. Architect Henry Hobson Richardson was a good example whose studio resembled an artist’s atelier. Richardson wore a monk’s robe and made the visitors feel like pilgrims entering his exotic retreat. Modern architects like Frank Lloyd Wright also created their own artsy style. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright was known to wear capes and pork-pie hats. Architect Louis Kahn was always seen sporting bow ties. Architect Le Corbusier always wore his owlish round glasses, a style that was later adopted by architect Philip Johnson. Today, the same image-building strategies are still evident in most architectural practice. Most successful architects are first-rate marketers and business people themselves aside from being artistic and creative.

How does one get to be an architect? In the United States, each state requires a person to get a license or proper registration to practice architecture. The requirements for acquiring an architect license include the following:

1. A professional degree in architecture

2. A practical training called an internship, comprising a certain amount of period

3. A passing grade on a test administered by the state

4. An examination called the architect registration examination.

If you want to be an architect, you can choose from several types of professional degrees in architecture. There is a 5-year Bachelor of Architecture degree. This type of degree is especially designed for students entering the program directly from high school or those who do not have any prior architecture training. There is also a 2-year Master of Architecture degree. This type of degree is intended for students who already gained an undergraduate degree in architecture. There are also some universities that offer 3 or 4 year Master of Architecture program. This usually caters to students who already finished a previous course other than architecture.

Finally, architecture is man’s world. Recent studies show that only about 13 percent of all registered architects are women. Only about 9 percent of these women head their own architectural firms. However, even if you are a woman, this should not deter you from becoming an architect. This is an exciting and challenging field that any woman who loves architecture should try their hands in. Accept the challenge, be an architect now.

Prominent Architects in Phoenix

Author: admin / Category: Architects

Working with outstanding Phoenix real estate agents is one of the best ways to find the perfect Phoenix homes that will best meet you and your family’s needs. Once a Phoenix realtor understands the type of property you wish to purchase, he or she will apply that criteria when searching every Phoenix real estate listing until the best property matches are found, thus saving you time and money. As you begin settling in, you will have ample opportunities to explore this beautiful city. Phoenix is home to several prominent architects whose talent is on display in remarkable buildings in Phoenix that they have designed.

Phoenix-based Gould Evans Associates, LC + Wendell Burnett Architects were honored with the 2007 American Institute Honor Awards for Architecture for their design of the Palo Verde Library/Maryvale Community Center owned by the City of Phoenix. The connection of the mind and body was used as a design theme that features two equally sized “volumes,” which are lit at the bottom and top, so you can see the activity going on inside from the outside. The library is housed in one side, and the gymnasium in the other. Care was taken to incorporate “green” building products, including floor tile made from recycled tires and cork, while walls were made from oriented strand board made from recycled wood. Formaldehyde-free insulation was also used.

The award-winning Phoenix architectural firm of richard + bauer Architecture was the design organization that created the Meinel Optical Science Research Building for the University of Arizona in Tuscon. Principals James Richard, Kelly Bauer, and Stephen Kennedy’s building features a concrete wall that is covered with red-bronze copper treatment to relate in tone to bricks used on the campus. To give the feeling of a darkroom, openings allow light into the building, and the light plays off the rooms within. For their work on this important building, richard + bauer Architecture were also awarded the 2007 American Institute of Architects Honor Award.

There still occasionally come on the Phoenix market vintage homes designed by Ralph Haver. Haver was a prominent Phoenix architect in the 1950s who made his mark in contemporary-styled single-family homes. His designs often feature window walls, clerestories, beam ceilings, carports rather than garages and a low pitch to the front facing gable roof style.

Probably the most famous architect in American history has his foundation in Scottsdale, and that is Frank Lloyd Wright. Known for organic architecture that allows the building to fit into the context that the land itself provides, Taliesin West in Scottsdale is where Wright had his home, his studio, and was the site of his architectural school. Archives of Wright’s work are housed at the Foundation as well.

So many amazing architects have been, and continue to be, inspired by what Phoenix and the surrounding countryside has to offer. The buildings and Phoenix AZ homes for sale reflect that splendor.

Famous Architects

Author: admin / Category: Architects

Architects have been and will remain at the forefront of designing the built environment that surrounds us. As professional experts in the field of building, design and construction, architects use their creativity to simplify the complex process of designing and build socially and economically sustainable cities and communities. Following are some world famous architects known for their unique creative skills, vision and contributions.

Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright is one of America’s most famous architects. Although he had no formal education in architecture, he believed that his work as a farm hand in Wisconsin made him very perceptive and helped develop his spatial abilities. After studying engineering at the University of Wisconsin for a few semesters at the age of 15, he left to apprentice with J.L. Silsbee and Louis Sullivan. After working with them for six years, Wright opened his own practice. During his 70-year career, Wright designed 1,141 buildings, including homes, offices, churches, schools, libraries, bridges and museums. One of his most important contributions was the Prairie House style of architecture. He experimented with obtuse angles and circles, creating unusually shaped structures, an example of which is the spiral Guggenheim Museum (1943-49). He also developed a series of low-cost homes which he called Usonian. Although he earned recognition in the early 1900s as one of the popular modern architects he became the recipient of the American Institute of Architects only in 1949.

Some of his more famous projects were:

Frederick C. Robie House 1909

Unity Temple 1906

Fallingwater 1936

Johnson Wax Administration Building 1936

I.M. Pei

I. M. Pei one of the most famous modern architects was born in Canton, China in 1917. Pei grew up in Shanghai, but in 1935 he moved to the United States to study architecture and engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and later at Harvard University. He became the Director of Architecture at the real estate development firm, Webb & Knapp in 1948 and then founded his own firm in 1958.

Over the past fifty years, Ieoh Ming Pei has designed more than fifty buildings across the globe including industrial skyscrapers, museums and low income housing. Concerened more with function than theory, the defining feature of I. M. Pei’s style is the use of large, abstract forms and sharp, geometric designs. His glass clad structures are born from high tech modernist movement.

During his career, Pei and his firm have won numerous architecture awards. He won the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 1983.

Some of his more noteworthy buildings are:

The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University

Bank of China Tower

John Hancock Tower

Louvre Pyramid

National Gallery

Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier, born in the late 19th century, was a pioneer of modern architecture. He founded what is popularly known as the International style or the Bauhaus. The essence of modern architecture as advocated by him was described in his 5-point theory that later became the guiding principle for many of his designs.

Freestanding support pillars

Open floor plan independent from the supports

Vertical facade that is free from the supports

Long horizontal sliding windows

Roof gardens

While the earlier buildings by Le Corbusier, called pure prisms were smooth, white concrete and glass structures elevated above the ground, his later designs used rough, heavy forms of stone, concrete, stucco and glass. He was a visionary who not only anticipated the role of the automobile but envisaged that cities would have big apartment buildings with park-like settings. Le Corbusier, as a famous architect was also known for his innovations in urban planning and his solutions for low income housing. Moreover, he believed that the stark buildings he designed would contribute to clean, bright, healthy cities. Le Corbusier’s dreams of such an urban haven were aptly realized in the Unit

Architect Liability Insurance

Author: admin / Category: Architects

Architects have always been in demand for their ability to design houses and buildings that people hold in awe. It is a highly skilled profession, where projects range in size and scope, from small office buildings to colossal sports stadiums.

However, most people can only see the bright side of architecture as a profession and do not realize that it is fraught with responsibilities. Any architectural firm may incur heavy liabilities due to the slightest error, oversight, or omission.

Such conditions require the protection of architect liability insurance for an individual architect or his/her firm. It protects professional architects in case of any legal claims that allege negligence on the part of the architect in the execution of services. At times, even when the case proves to have no validity, the legal cost involved in fighting the case can be substantial and can even leave an architect or firm reeling from the financial pressure.

Hence, architect liability insurance is a must for all architects and firms. There are various insurance and brokerage firms that offer architect liability insurance. While many of these offer the architect liability insurance as part of their other insurance packages, some others especially deal in architect liability insurance. It is a better idea to go with a brokerage or insurance firm that deals specifically with architect liability insurance, as they are knowledgeable of the field of architecture and may be open to negotiations on the premium price.

One can find information about such insurance and brokerage firms easily on the internet. However, like all types of liability insurance, it is important to first have a proper understanding of the needs from the insurance as well as what one is looking from a architect liability insurance company.

Australian Architects

Author: admin / Category: Architects

Whenever you see a building in the Central Business District of Sydney, all of it are designed by architects some local and foreign. Architects are those who have been educated for this field and are licensed on planning as well as designing the buildings. Safety in the structure is essential to an architect’s work, so they are needed to undertake an advanced education and an internship for them to provide the requirements on having a license for architecture.

The first Australian architects were the Indigenous Australians. Australian Architecture was more or less inspired by the progress in England in the 19th century, and by the 1930s other influenced came like Americans. Though adapting these foreign architectures, they still thrive to add a little taste of their own culture. There are many aspiring architects in Australia who work to earn a name in the industry.

One of the most distinguished and famous Australian Architects is Glenn Murcutt. He has achieved and built many buildings such as the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Art Centre in the New South Wales state, Bowali Visitor Information Centre in the Northen Territory, and many more.
